What is DermHub?

DermHub is a user-friendly, app-based dermatology e-consultation platform providing expert care for a broad spectrum of skin, hair, and nail conditions. Patients can conveniently submit photos via our secure platform and, for a flat fee, receive an evaluation and personalized treatment plan from a board-certified dermatologist within just two days.

DermHub is currently available in Massachusetts and Texas, but stay tuned for future expansion plans as we work diligently to extend our services across the United States.

Why choose DermHub?

Instead of waiting an average of 30 days for an in-person dermatology appointment, DermHub offers you a swift alternative. We provide a direct route to board-certified dermatologists in the United States. Within 48 hours, a physician will respond to your concerns with a personalized treatment plan and send prescriptions electronically to your preferred local pharmacy. You'll also have access to an integrated skincare boutique featuring products carefully curated by academic dermatologists.

  • How do I know I can trust your service?
DermHub was founded by a board-certified U.S. physician, and our organization is exclusively run and staffed by academic dermatologists currently practicing in the United States. At the core of our practice, we prioritize patient safety and privacy. Our medical leadership, led by dermatologists Dr. Bill Fawaz and Dr. Jag Bhawan, has managed thousands of e-consult patients at Boston University Medical Center since 2019. To safeguard patient information, our service fully complies with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies and procedures. This commitment has earned us the HIPAA Seal of Compliance from Compliancy Group. For more information about our team, please visit our team page.
  • How do I communicate with my doctor?
At DermHub, we employ "store-and-forward" technology, where a dermatologist reviews your case after you submit it and electronically sends you the diagnosis and treatment plan. This approach maximizes convenience and minimizes wait times for patients. Following the case review, a chat feature becomes available, allowing you to directly communicate with your doctor. This chat remains open for seven days, during which you can ask questions using text or audio notes. We are actively working on plans to introduce phone calls and video visits in the near future.
  • What if I have any issues after the 7-day period ends?
You will always have the option to chat with one of our medical assistants. Alternatively, for a small fee, you can extend your chat with your dermatologist for another week, as needed.
  • If I need prescriptions, how will I get them?
DermHub physicians will electronically prescribe medications to the pharmacy of your choosing, anywhere in the United States.
  • Do you accept health insurance?
While we currently do not accept insurance, you may seek reimbursement for the visit by submitting the receipt and visit note to your insurance company. Additionally, we accept payments through Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to help offset the cost of the visit. If you require an in-office visit, please note that we accept all major insurance plans for in-person consultations.
  • Can I use my insurance to help pay for my medications?
Certainly. Your insurance can be used to cover the cost of your medications. If you don't have insurance, or if the price of the medication is too high with your insurance, you can check the medication price on GoodRx. They often have medications available at discounted prices.
  • Can I submit cases on behalf of family members?
Yes, you can. However, each patient requires their own account. To submit a case on behalf of someone else, create a new account under the family member's name, then enter your information in the surrogate section.
